What We Did
After your journal write (What's your purpose for being in school?) and reading time, it went like this:
We watched "Developing a Growth Mindset" by Dr. Carol Dweck, and I had you write down a few responses on this handout to get you thinking about what you saw and heard. We went over it afterward for a few minutes, because I think this stuff is pretty great.
I demonstrated the Poem That Matters project that you'll be doing this term. We'll talk more about it to answer any questions you might have. It's posted to the right there, but if you want one here's your official invite. Again, this can be
a famous poem,
a not-so-famous poem,
one that you've written,
Must be at least eight lines long.
The "Developing a Growth Mindset" handout from class, that you most likely turned into the basket before you left today.
The Poem that Matters project. Like the invite says, this isn't due until the end of the term. But keep in mind—everyone can't go on that last day. Fact is, I'm only going to allow three, maybe four, people to go on any given day, so it's in your best interests to get this done sooner rather than later. You could even go as early as next time, if you wanted to. Just make sure you've met the requirements listed above, and done the necessary prep work.
